Research

The strategic vision for the University of Otago is to be a research-led University with an international reputation for excellence. The Statistics group at Otago is committed to research excellence in statistics and data science. Research interests of members of the group include Bayesian statistics, hidden Markov models, stochastic modelling, statistical genetics, scoring rules, clinical trials, spatial statistics, and model-averaging.

Members of the Statistics group have research links and collaborations with other research groups, locally, nationally and internationally. We work on motivating applications in diverse subject areas including ecology, earth and environmental sciences, genetics, epidemiology, health sciences, chemistry, food science and sports science.
